Hi- my name is Donna Marie Thomas.

 Welcome to Inner worth counselling.

My name is Donna Thomas.

Inner-worth counselling is a therapy service that provides a safe and supportive environment for you to explore your thoughts, feelings, and challenges.

I offer a person centred approach to therapy tailored to meet each person’s individual needs.

I am passionate about working without labelling clients, and so I reflect on the issues you bring within the context of your life. Working from a therapeutic background, I do not diagnose or give labels to natural, emotional reactions to our environmental circumstances.

I believe in the significance of being heard and valued.

Through respecting your story, I feel you will discover an understanding within yourself through exploring how your life’s context has shaped how you relate to the world around you, including your relationships and experiences.

I am a qualified counsellor and Registered Member of BACP. I work individually with adults of all genders to improve their mental health and emotional wellbeing.

As a client centric service, our private counselling provides you with a confidential and safe environment to discuss your personal issues to enable you to deal with the issues that your experiencing.

CONFIDENTIALITY

Before we work together, we will both agree to work to a contract. This will ensure confidentiality and will provide peace of mind for you as I will abide by the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy’s Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions.

I have had the privilege where clients have shared with me, matters that they have never shared with another person. Confidentiality is an important ingredient in building the therapeutic relationship.

FINDING THE RIGHT THERAPIST

Finding the right therapist in an important process for you.

We are all unique and bring different qualities to the therapeutic relationship. I believe the therapeutic relationship heals and finding the right therapist is an essential ingredient in the success of the therapy.

You don’t have to continue with your battle alone Mental health issues rarely get better by themselves, in fact, when ignored, they often get worse. Counselling is prevention.

Counselling shouldn’t really be a last resort. It should be the first port of call.

It should be before you find that you are on your knees, before your relationships break down and before you begin to get sick.

My passion is helping you to become the best version of yourself.

To live the best life.

To have the knowledge, the tools and the confidence to move forward and to change things.

What to expect from Counselling.

Your experience within counselling will be unique to you.

However, here are some ideas of what to expect from counselling.

Coming into a space where you build a relationship of trust with your counsellor and as your therapeutic relationship builds, you are able to look at your life and your self and understand who you are.

Exploring your present life and reflecting on your past.

Learning how you process emotions, respond to others, and receive others’ emotions and processes.

We are all unique individuals jostling our lives with others, family, friends, work, and so much more. Sometimes, there is so much going on externally that we stop looking internally. Sometimes our ability to manage emotions, cope with our feelings, understand our feelings or see the world becomes blurred through life experiences from childhood to today.

Counselling is a space where you can unpack your emotions, be honest and open about them.

Like a pressure cooker, you can take off the lid and let them out.

You can talk about your hopes and fears, and you can share your feelings in a safe, nonjudgmental space.

Talking with a counsellor offers a cocoon, a space to vent, a sounding board, a space where it is safe to honestly sit with your emotions, cry, shout, talk, whatever you need to see you through.

I will sit with you, listen, and offer you a mental ‘first aid kit’ to support you.

You are not alone.

I am here for you.

I have experience and work with a wide range of issues such as: anxiety, stress, overwhelm, bereavement, grief and loss, domestic violence, lgbtq community, depression and low mood, family difficulties, building confidence and self-esteem, Addictions, Childhood trauma, fear, limiting beliefs that are stored in the subconscious mind.

Remember, your feelings do not own you. You own your feelings!

Find a way to be OK with how you feel and understand why you feel the way you do when you do.

If you are looking for a counsellor to support you, get in touch and book your initial consultation.
